The Thomson Tour
Welcome to the 28th season of The Thomson Tour.
The Tour was started by PGA professional Jimmy Thomson 28 years ago and it was one, if not the first tour to start where players competed for their own money, which at the time was against the then PGA regulations.
After a few battles with the PGA the tour continued until Jimmy found he couldn't spend the time needed to run the tour and it was going to stop, it is at this point that I, Mark Litton took over the organisation of the tour. I decided to keep the name, hence The Thomson Tour continues.
The Tour has tried to keep with the original format and it especially encourages Trainees to play as they can still fill in their playing record cards for their PGA training.
It gives all PGA members including Head professionals and qualified assistants the opportunity to play some golf during the winter months when there is very little else to play in, as well as other professionals.
Since it's conception 28 years ago many of the Thomson Tour's former tour members have gone on to make the European Tour and include a few that have won major international honours along the way, they include Ian Poulter, Simon Khan, Mark Litton, Bobby Mitchell, Lee Fickling, Daniel Brooks, Andy Clapp and Dale Whitnell.
Thank you for you continued supportMark.
Verulam is a mature course renowned for its small, fast and undulating greens. The course is tight and sets a premium on accuracy and shot control.
