Verulam is a mature course renowned for its small, fast and undulating greens. The course is tight and sets a premium on accuracy and shot control.
Verulam presents an excellent and interesting test of golf offering a tough challenge even to the experienced golfer – as evidenced by the Amateur and Professional course records of 67 and 65 respectively.
At 6429 yards from the White tees the course is not long. It drains freely and in summer the ball really does run – but the best scores result from being straight and having a good short game rather than long hitting that doesn’t follow the fairway. Due to its draining capability, the course is rarely closed in winter and temporary greens are virtually unheard of.
